This soccer training activity is designed for U8–U10 players and focuses on attacking during in possession. Coaches can duplicate and adapt this activity to fit their own session plans.
Develop attacking confidence in U8 players through a 1v1 end zone soccer game emphasizing space recognition and forward dribbling.
Set up a 15x20 yard area with a 2-yard end zone at each end. Players work in pairs. The attacker attempts to dribble under control into either end zone. The defender tries to win the ball before the attacker reaches the zone and go the other way. Rotate roles regularly.
15 minutes
1. Dribble into end zone under control to score. 2. Defender becomes attacker if they win the ball. 3. Ball must remain inside grid.
Many U8 players hesitate when driving forward in 1v1 situations. This activity removes shooting pressure and isolates the skill of attacking space. Use it early in a session before introducing goal-scoring elements, or as a confidence builder for players who avoid taking defenders on.
